A Rainbow After the Storm | Sharaya’s Maternity Photo Session

This was my very first official maternity session—and it couldn’t have been with a more special family.

Sharaya and I were coworkers and friends, and we had shared something deeply personal: the longing to grow our families. We both walked through seasons of waiting and heartbreak before arriving at this chapter. I had welcomed my son Luke nine months earlier, and when Sharaya told me they were expecting their rainbow baby, I couldn’t stop smiling. I knew just how deeply this joy was earned.

We photographed their Maternity photo session in the same location where Jeff and I had taken our wedding photos—which added another quiet layer of meaning to a day already full of tenderness and celebration. The whole evening felt relaxed and joy-filled… a celebration of a life so wanted and already so loved.

At one point, the sun hit just right, and a soft lens flare appeared—curving around Sharaya’s belly in the shape of a rainbow. I couldn’t have planned it if I tried.
