Then vs Now | The Feigel Family Photoshoot

Let’s just say… I’ve learned a few things since this first session. 😅
The Feigel family was one of my earliest extended family sessions. I was still figuring out what I was doing, how to direct large groups, and what “intentional variety” even looked like. When I delivered their gallery, I sent just 16 images. Sixteen! I’m not sure if I was being extremely selective—or if I just didn’t shoot as creatively back then. (Probably a mix of both.)
Fast forward to their most recent session, and I sent… wait for it… 135 images. Oof. I may have overcorrected. 🤦♀️ These days I tend to overshoot and over-deliver—not because I have to, but because I’ve learned how to see more. To move quicker, capture layers, and lean into the moments I used to overlook.
But what’s stayed the same? The Feigel family is always up for anything.
A random dog runs into the frame mid-session? The kids are thrilled. Someone’s getting tired? Let’s break out the bubble party. Someone’s expecting? We sneak in a few maternity frames, no problem. Want to try out new couple prompts I’ve been practicing? They’re game. They’re just a fun, flexible, joy-filled bunch—and I’m always grateful to work with them.
Fun fact: I photographed their last family photoshoot just four hours before getting on a plane to Europe. And I wouldn’t have traded that little time crunch for anything.
Feigel family, thank you for growing with me—from the tiny gallery days to the bubble-blowing, dog-dodging, shoot-til-we-fly chaos. You’ve helped shape the photographer I am today.
