Downtown Edmonton Elopement | The Britt Family

ree

This session was beautiful… and a bit chaotic behind the scenes.

What you don’t see in the photos is that this day came together in a very fluid way. The couple had a vision, but not all the details were set in stone when we arrived. Things like where the ceremony would happen and how the flow of the day would unfold ended up being figured out in the moment—together.

While that kind of spontaneity isn’t how I typically work now, I remember actually enjoying the challenge at the time. It pushed me to lead with calm, make creative choices quickly, and be fully present in the experience.

But looking back? I realize now that I wouldn’t want to repeat that same set of circumstances. Not because of the people—they were lovely—but because it taught me just how much clarity and communication matter. Especially for something as meaningful as a wedding day.

Still, I’m proud of this work. I was in my first two years of business, and even though I’d do a few things differently now, the basics were strong. The portraits still hold up. And most importantly—the couple and their family were kind, flexible, and so happy with their images. That matters more than anything.

This Edmonton Elopement taught me a lot. And it reminded me that even the “messy middle” of growth can produce work worth keeping.
