The Beautiful Chaos | Benny’s Newborn Session

Two months into starting my business, I got to photograph my third nephew—Benny. He was the third boy for my sister and brother-in-law, and this session came with a lot more energy.
Picture this: a newborn, an 18-month-old, and a 3.5-year-old all in the same room. It wasn’t quiet or controlled, but it was real. And it taught me something important: sometimes, when everyone’s not looking at the camera or sitting “just right,” the magic still shows up anyway.
At the time, I didn’t have the tools I use now—no prompts for sibling connection or techniques to guide chaos into candids. But I did have the freedom of a beautifully lit house. The way natural light filled their space gave me room to move, adjust, and focus on getting the boys engaged without worrying too much about camera settings.
I look back on this newborn session with both love and learning. It reminded me that newborn photos aren’t about control—they’re about connection. And sometimes, the best thing you can do is meet the moment exactly where it is.
